Jurisdiction The Sheriff and Deputies have jurisdiction over Box Butte County. They may also assist the Alliance Police Department, the Hemingford Police Department, the Nebraska State Patrol and other agencies when requested.
Paper Service The Sheriff and Deputies serve civil and criminal papers such as a summons, subpoena, small claims, notices, warrants, protection orders, etc. These papers are issued from the county and district courts and also come from other jurisdictions to be served on persons living in Box Butte County.
Distress Warrants When individuals are behind on paying their taxes, distress warrants are issued. The Sheriff's Office will contact these people and make arrangements to get them paid.
Box Butte County Jail The Sheriff's Office administrates the jail. Trained and certified jailers and matrons are responsible for fingerprinting, booking, documenting arrests, collecting fines and bond money and overseeing the day to day jail activities.
