“Karing for Karen”

I sincerely apologize that I can’t get up and tell everyone ‘thank you’ like you deserve. However, I know that no one likes to see a grown man cry and it seems that I have been a little on the emotional side these days.
There is a song out right now by Jason Michael Carroll called “Livin’ Our Love Song”. Every time I hear it on the radio it brings me to tears. It seems that our “Livin’ Our Love Song” was stopped on August 14th and I long for the day when I get to have Karen dance in my arms, with a spotlight moon and a seas of stars. I guess it takes something like this to prove that everything I want is everything that she is. It’s pretty hard to believe that after all these years I still need Karen this badly. I am sure that someday this fairy tale princess will prove everyone wrong and “Seize the Day” so that her and I can finish “Livin’ Our Love Song”.
Karen has touched so many lives and continues to do so even as she lies here asleep for the past two and half months. Everyone has worked so hard to bring her back through medicine, therapy, gifts, words and prayer. I can no way begin to tell you how much this all means to me. I only hope that you will accept my sincerest ‘THANK YOU”!
Karen always said, “live everyday as if there is no tomorrow” and that is exactly how she has lived her life. Karen has a great need in life to learn and she loved to pass that on through her teaching. “Knowledge is power and power is knowledge” is another favorite quote of Karen’s. Karen always told our children, “it never hurts to get on your knees and throw one up to the ‘Big Guy’ upstairs”. I have taken her advice lately and one of my favorites has become the “Serenity Prayer”. A great friend of ours Lisa Haas gave me a coin a few days into this ordeal with this prayer on it. I have since carried it faithfully every day along with several prayer stones. The prayer goes like this:

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the difference.”

Please know that each of you have a spot in our hearts and we greatly appreciate everything that you do for us.
