This morning, after breakfast at the hotel, the Hemingford Juniors took their WorldStrides tour bus to the Arlington National Cemetery. There they visited the gravesites of President Taft, President Kennedy, and Robert Kennedy. They also visited the old property of Confederate General Robert E. Lee and watched the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. After the Cemetery the group continued on to the Washington Monument. They were able to ride the elevator to the top of the Monument and observe an April Fool's Day political protest. The Juniors then wandered the various Smithsonian Institutions lining the Washington Mall. The day's WorldStrides tour ended with a dinner theater in which they watched a performance of "The Pirates of Penzance".
