Monday the Hemingford Juniors continued their tour of Washington with their WorldStrides trip. At 9 o'clock the tour bus left the hotel in Maryland and proceeded to the National Zoo. They saw, among the other fascinating and exotic animals in the zoo's collection, the famous pandas on loan from China. After lunch at a local McDonald's, the bus went through Massachusetts Avenue, also known as Embassy Row because of the numerus countries' embassy's that line the street. The group then walked past the White House, where a uniformed Secret Service agent answered their questions. They visited the National Cathedral, and the Vietnam and Korean War Memorials. Supper was at the food court of the Reagan International Trade Center. After supper, the group traveled to the Jefferson Memorial, the FDR Memorial, and finally, the Lincoln Memorial. The Juniors ended the evening with a trip to the Kennedy Center for the Arts where they were allowed to travel to the top floor's balcony to view Washington's skyline. The group returned to their Maryland hotel to rest up for another busy day in Washington D.C.
